SEA-EU Staff Week on Sustainable Human Resource Management for the Sustainable Blue Economy


The SEA-EU Staff Week on Sustainable Human Resource Management for the Sustainable Blue Economy took place this week (November 14th – 17th) at the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism, University of Split. This Staff Week gathered experts on Human Resource Management, but also Blue Economy from all over the SEA-EU Alliance, allowing them to discuss sustainability in the context of the development of the job market but also in the context of the development of the Blue Economy. The experts also tried to give an answer to the question of how higher education institutions can contribute to the development of sustainable human resource management. Every meeting day consisted of a workshop session and a project fair session, where the participants presented their ideas on future projects and research, marking a first step towards new collaborations. As focal points of cooperation were agreed:
  • capacity building for the sustainable Blue Economy,
  • teleworking at the member universities of the alliance,
  • attitude of students towards work and employment in the Blue Economy and
  • small communities and attracting/developing resources for the Blue Economy.
This Staff Week also served as an opportunity to discuss the future development of the SEA-EU Observatory for Sustainable Blue Economy, as the second day’s session gathered the OSBE experts from the University of Split as well as the experts from the University of Gdansk and the NORD University.
Staff Week concluded with an interesting visit to the ancient city of Salona where the participants got to know the natural and historical beauties of this cradle of ancient Roman and ancient Croatian history.
